CBPA Presentation Practice: Connect a Claim, Evidence and Its Limits

A confident presentation is easier to follow when the audience can distinguish what you propose from what you have established. For students exploring China BPA or CBPA, practise connecting one clear claim with relevant evidence and a realistic limitation.

This original exercise develops a general communication skill. Check the current organiser's instructions for the actual project and presentation requirements.

Define the claim narrowly

Imagine a school-club booking service. A broad claim such as everyone needs our app is difficult to investigate. A narrower question is whether club leaders lose time confirming which rooms are available.

Identify the user, the task and the proposed improvement. A feature list is not yet evidence that the improvement matters.

State exactly what the evidence measures

In a fictional practice sample, 5 of 8 club leaders report making repeated room-confirmation requests during the previous month. This supports investigating that process in this group.

It does not establish how often every student experiences the problem, whether an app is the best solution or whether users will pay. Keep the sample count, recruitment method and period with the result.

Build a short explanation

A possible practice statement is: We are investigating repeated room-confirmation requests among club leaders. Five of our eight fictional respondents described this issue last month. We would next observe the existing booking process before deciding whether a shared status page could help.

The statement separates a research question, a sample result and a proposed next step. For a real project, replace every fictional detail with your own permitted research and cite the sources you use.

Rehearse for understanding

Ask a teammate to repeat the user, problem, evidence and unresolved question after hearing your explanation. If they cannot, revise the structure before adding more slides.

For another exercise, explain why 5 out of 8 is not proof of school-wide demand. Then suggest what additional information would change your view. Keep the project your own and follow the current programme's rules on assistance, sources and tools. A clear account of uncertainty is more informative than a promise of guaranteed success.
