1. How do I choose a CBPA category?
The Team Competition is suitable for students who are interested in business, enjoy working collaboratively, value hands-on practical experiences (such as designing solutions based on case studies and delivering video presentations), have a keen interest in entrepreneurship, and are proactive individuals eager to turn their ideas into reality. This category closely simulates the actual conditions of the business world.
The Individual Competition is divided into two tracks: The Marketing Track is suitable for students interested in marketing and new media; the Business Management Track offers systematic exposure to fundamental business knowledge and places high demands on a student's comprehensive abilities.
2. Can teams in the CBPA competition be formed across different schools?
The BPA competition consists of two main categories: Case Analysis (a team competition for 3–4 members) and Objective Assessment (an individual competition). Teams may be formed across different grade levels, schools, and regions; however, participants cannot compete in multiple categories simultaneously.
3. Can I change my competition category after registering?
According to the rules for the 2023 season, students must complete their team formation by 23:59 on December 3, 2023. Prior to the registration deadline—and provided that all category-specific requirements are met—there is no limit to the number of times a student may modify their registration details; however, each student is permitted to join only one team.
4. How challenging is the CBPA competition?
Preliminary Round:
Assesses an understanding of broad, foundational business theories. The scope of knowledge points is extensive, but the difficulty level is relatively low.
National Round (China):
Assesses an understanding of theoretical knowledge within specific, specialized business fields. The knowledge points are more focused, and the difficulty level is moderate.
Global Round:
Assesses a deep understanding and practical application of theoretical knowledge within specialized business fields. The knowledge points are highly focused, and the difficulty level is significant.
5. What content is assessed in the CBPA competition?
The CBPA competition is divided into two main categories: Case Analysis (a team competition for 3–4 members) and Objective Assessment (an individual competition).
① Case Analysis
This category selects business themes that are highly relevant to current trends and closely aligned with students' daily lives. The organizers release specific business case studies—tailored to the annual theme—and teams are tasked with formulating a comprehensive business plan based on the details of the case. The case studies are designed as practical exercises that immerse students in the processes of the real business world, offering a highly authentic simulation of professional business environments.
② Objective Assessment
Participants must choose one of two tracks: Marketing or Business Management.
[Marketing]
The Objective Assessment (Individual) category—specifically during the Preliminary Round's study phase—focuses on assessing fundamental knowledge of marketing principles. Content covers: Brand Marketing, Advertising & Media, and E-commerce.
【Business Management】
An exploration and study of the fundamental principles governing the business world; content includes Human Resource Management, Corporate Financial Management, and related topics.
6. What are the advancement rules for the CBPA?
① Direct Advancement
Based on the overall score rankings within each region, the top 20% of individuals/teams in each category will directly advance to the Study Phase of the BPA 2025 China Competition. The actual number of advancing individuals/teams will be determined based on the total number of participants/teams in that specific year.
② Second-Round Advancement
For individuals/teams that did not qualify through direct advancement, a nationwide ranking based on overall scores will be conducted; the top 20% of these teams will then advance to the China Competition. The number of individuals/teams advancing in this second round will not exceed the number of those who advanced directly.
7. I haven't studied business or commerce—can I still participate in the Practical Application Category?
Absolutely! We strongly encourage students from diverse academic backgrounds to participate. Whether your field is Economics, Biology, or the Arts, you can leverage your unique strengths and expertise to get involved. "Business + X"—together, we can create infinite possibilities.
